Using Cr12MoV to punch 20 # steel is the wrong material, so the resulting product has burrs, which are caused by the adhesion and wear of the adhesive material.
Using the wrong materials for molds can lead to various problems, and then you will come up with various solutions based on these problems. In fact, these are all groundless thoughts. As long as you use the right die steel, you will not have these problems, and solving them is also very convenient.
20 steel is a low carbon steel and also an annealed material. The material is very soft and difficult to process, making it easy to stick to the knife. In addition, Cr12MoV is a cold work die steel with a carbon C content of 1.5%. There are a large number of microscopic cracks in the structure that cannot be seen by the naked eye. When punching encounters very soft 20 steel, adhesive wear of the adhesive will occur, resulting in product burrs.
There are two solutions. To solve the problem at once, use 8566 anti collapse steel without coating. After slow wire processing, it can be used directly. If you want to lower the material cost of die steel, DC53+coating can also solve the problem.

Mr. Zhao used Wu Dejian 8566 die steel to precisely punch 6mmQ235, SKD11, and DC53, all of which required a sharp edge. He stamped 250000 products without any sharp edges.
The precision punching mold requires a full gloss strip, without burrs or scratches. Q235, like 20 steel, is made of low carbon steel and has a very soft material. This working condition is similar to Mr. Liang’s, so I recommend it to you for your reference.
Based on Mr. Zhao’s case experience, Mr. Liang’s 20 # steel stamping with Cr12MoV is prone to edge lifting, which can be solved by using 8566 die steel. It does not require polishing or coating, and can be processed slowly to ensure that the punch is shiny before use.
