I am the tool steel engineer beside you, and the key is that it is free.blog 050

I received a message from an old customer this morning, asking which mold material is better for stamping 4.0 thick S700 material, punch and lower die blade?

Stamping 4mm thick S700 high-strength steel, which is a thick plate hard material stamping, prioritizes the anti cracking performance of tool steel, followed by wear resistance. I asked him, is there a large quantity of products? How much speed are you ready to drive?

After receiving the general information, I replied to him that the main consideration for the cutting edge of the lower mold is wear resistance. If we want to use the relatively inexpensive Cr8Mo2VSi series DC53, the hardness can only be 58-60HRC, otherwise it is prone to breakage. To be safer, we can use the 8566 II reinforced type with a hardness of 59-62HRC, which has better anti cracking performance and coating effect than DC53.

The punch is mainly considered for its anti cracking performance and high strength. 8566 anti collapse steel with a hardness of 58-60HRC can be used first. For those that are prone to wear in the future, a coating can be applied to solve the wear resistance problem. If the cost is sufficient, the punch can be made of PM23 powder high-speed steel with a hardness of HRC64-66, which has high hardness and good strength.

This customer always comes to me to ask about mold materials when developing new products before making a decision. As he said himself, after asking you, he won’t step on the pit. If the mold is thrown down, once it’s not good to use, not only will the tool steel be lost, but also the processing fee and time will be delayed.

Yeah, I’m the tool steel engineer by your side. The key is that it’s free, and there’s no need to say thank you.
