Mr. Bao is a hot forged 35CrMo hex nut that was punched with a bottom mold. Originally, H13 tool steel was used, which had a short lifespan. The customer was unhappy and requested that he find a way to increase the mold lifespan, reduce the frequency of mold repairs, and improve production efficiency.
After Mr. Bao found me last year, based on his mold working conditions and our past customer case experience, I recommended him to use heat-resistant steel 8433.
8433 is a heat-resistant steel exclusive to Yuhui tool Steel. It far exceeds competitors in multiple indicators such as high heat resistance, fatigue resistance, and high thermal conductivity, and its performance is few and far between. The heat resistance and stability of 8433 tool steel are 2-3 times that of H13, with a hardness of 50-54HRC; During its lifespan, the mold will not be annealed off, and its hardness will not decrease. The red hardness is guaranteed, and the two major problems of mold collapse and cracking will no longer occur. It is particularly worth emphasizing that after repairing the 8433 mold, its lifespan will not decrease. Even if the mold is repaired to scrap, the hardness on the back will not decrease.
After more than three months of use, Mr. Bao came to purchase 8433 tool steel again today and told me some good news.
The lifespan of 8433 is twice that of H13. H13 produced 20000 pieces, 8433 produced 40000 pieces. After producing 40000 pieces, there were no marks on the mold. I ordered to continue producing until it was scrapped, and 58000 pieces were produced. The photo shows the actual product when 58000 pieces were produced. The customer is very satisfied with the mold made by 8433 and has placed another order with me.
According to Mr. Bao’s reply, the hot forged 35CrMo hex nut was made of heat-resistant steel 8433 for the bottom mold, and the mold life was increased from 20000 pieces to 58000 pieces, which is equivalent to a threefold increase. A threefold increase in lifespan means that the goal of reducing mold repairs by 2 times, minimizing downtime by 2 times, reducing mold repair frequency, and improving production efficiency has been achieved.
When the hot forging die collapses and cracks, 8433 tool steel is better than eating Braised pork belly.
