Aluminum shell die-casting mold, with thick reinforcement ribs, 8418 and H13 are prone to erosion. What Tool steel is recommended?blog 061

The parking fee is very expensive, only when a ticket is received, the parking fee is not expensive.

Tool steel is very expensive, only when the mold is broken, Tool steel is not expensive, especially after trying many types of Tool steel. When buying Tool steel again, there will be no bargaining.

This morning, I received a consultation from Mr. Luo regarding an aluminum die-casting of a casing cover. There is a reinforcing rib at a certain position, and the wall thickness is relatively thick. The current mold always erodes at this position. I have used 8418, H13, and other molds, but the mold quickly erodes. What material would be better.

The heat dissipation at the wall thickness is relatively slow, and the red hardness requirement of the mold is high. However, 8418 and H13 are prone to erosion, which is also due to the poor heat resistance of the Tool steel and insufficient red hardness. Therefore, it is necessary to choose a mold steel with higher heat resistance alloy molybdenum Mo, high toughness, and fast heat dissipation. For working conditions that require high heat resistance, I recommend heat-resistant steel 8433.

The heat resistance and stability of 8433 mold steel are 2-3 times that of H13, with a hardness of HRC50-54; During its lifespan, the mold will not be annealed off, and its hardness will not decrease. The red hardness is guaranteed, and the two major problems of mold collapse and cracking will no longer occur. It is particularly worth emphasizing that after repairing the 8433 mold, its lifespan will not decrease. Even if the mold is repaired to scrap, the hardness on the back will not decrease.

We have a customer in Dongguan Qishi who produces aluminum die-casting parts for wine bottle caps. One of the parts has a relatively thick position, and 8418, which weighs over 90 pieces per kilogram, is prone to erosion. However, using 8433 mold steel, the lifespan is more than twice as long. It is said that even after making 60000 to 70000 pieces, there is no erosion.

A few days ago, he called me and said that the mold had been made for over 80000 yuan and was a bit eroded. He needed to maintain the mold and asked me how to adjust the temperature and insulation time for stress tempering.

After listening to the introduction and having some communication, Mr. Luo sent me the specifications for ordering materials, quoted the price, and then placed the order. It was so refreshing that I was surprised.
