Mr. Wan, who has purchased M316 die steel from me, called to inquire about mold steel and told me some good news. The M316 die steel purchased last time was injection molded with PVC soft rubber and had a very good effect.
However, the molds made with S136 for PVC soft rubber injection molding by peers have all been scrapped because the mold mouth will become larger after S136 injection molding for not long, and the product will have sharp edges. You have to repair the mold twice more, and the mold will be scrapped, so the molds of peers are scrapped very quickly. And the mold I made with M316, which I have been using all along, will not have sharp edges and does not need to be repaired, so the mold will not be scrapped.
The corrosion of PVC soft rubber on molds is particularly severe. S136 is a 4Cr13 stainless steel with low carbon chromium ratio and poor corrosion resistance. It cannot resist the corrosion of PVC, a strong corrosive medium, on molds, so the molds will be eaten up, causing the products to protrude. Die steel should have good corrosion and rust resistance and a high carbon chromium ratio. Therefore, M316 die steel with a high carbon chromium ratio should be used for injection molding PVC.
M316 is a super stainless steel with a proprietary alloy ratio of Yuhui Tool Steel. It has a chromium Cr content of 16%, a high carbon chromium ratio, and a stable passivation layer that will not be penetrated by corrosive media, thus achieving anti-corrosion and rust prevention effects. It also contains trace elements to further enhance the stability of the passivation layer, and has strong anti-corrosion and rust prevention performance. Even in harsh working conditions where strong acids such as PVC are injected and S136 is easily corroded, M316 will never rust, and the mold will become brighter and brighter,
M316 quenching hardness is 50-54HRC, and it can be mirror polished to 10000~12000. M316 die steel is used for injection molding PVC. As Mr. Zhou mentioned, it does not require electroplating, the mold does not corrode, and it becomes brighter as it is made.
Mr. Wan’s injection molding PVC software, S136, is prone to corrosion and the mold is quickly scrapped, while M316, the mold has been pressed without corrosion. This good feedback has increased my confidence in M316.
